Reserve call out pay for United pilots
Short answer
Yes. A reserve called to the airport at their base who doesn't fly, deadhead or sit voluntary field standby gets 5:15 of Reserve Call Out Pay.
What the contract says
“When a Reserve at their Base is called to an airport, including a Reserve on a VDO assignment, and they do not fly, deadhead or sit voluntary Field Standby, they shall receive five and one-quarter (5:15) of pay.”
What if my trip is cancelled before I get there?
It depends on how you were told. If the company reached you by affirmative contact before your report time, there is no call out pay; if nobody reached you and you report on time, you get it. § 3-C-3-g
What does “called to an airport” mean?
That you actually reported to the airport at your scheduled report time. § 3-C-3-g
