Minimum rest after a trip, United pilots
Short answer
12:45 after a trip or field standby, and 24 hours after a Global trip. In the monthly bid a lineholder can ask for anything from 12:45 to 14:00.
What the contract says
“Twelve hours and forty-five minutes (12:45) at the conclusion of a Trip or Field Standby.”
“Twenty-four (24) hours after a Global Trip.”
How does this work for a reserve?
The 12:45 is added to the end of the trip to set the earliest time you can be required to report for your next assignment. § 5-E-3-e-(1)
Can I ask for more time between trips?
In the monthly bid, a lineholder can pick a value between 12:45 and 14:00 to the minute, and between 24 and 60 hours between trips in different geographic regions. A value that makes a legal line impossible is not used. § 5-E-3-e-(2) § 5-E-3-f-(1)
Is there extra rest after a long international trip?
After a Global trip with three or more duty periods, your time off does not end until you have had two consecutive 0100–0700 periods free from duty. A duty period that is only a single deadhead of three hours or less doesn’t count toward the three. § 5-E-3-g
