What is Protected Time Credit (PTC)?
A lineholder’s PTC starts as the Line Pay Value of the schedule awarded in the monthly bid. Since the May 2024 bid period, base pay is whichever is higher in dollars: PTC or Line Pay Value, which is all pay that isn’t Add Pay. § 3-C-2-a § 3-C-4 § 3-C-3-a A reserve’s base pay is the higher of the reserve guarantee (MPG) or Line Pay Value. § 3-C-4
What changes your PTC?
Your own choices do. Trading or picking up moves PTC by the net pay value of the change, dropping a trip without pay lowers it, and dropping with pay (vacation drop, jury duty) leaves it alone. § 3-C-2-b § 3-C-2-e § 3-C-2-f
If you lose a whole trip and get a new assignment worth more, PTC rises by the difference. § 3-C-2-d Add Pay sits on top and is never part of PTC. § 3-C-2-g
What is a trip worth if it runs long?
Each segment that actually departs pays the greater of its actual pay hours (from doors closed and brake released to the first door opening) or its scheduled flight time. § 3-C-3-c-(1) § 3-C-3-b
Do you get paid for getting home late?
Yes. Starting two hours after your original release time you earn Overtime Add Pay of one hour for every three hours away from base, prorated. § 20-L-5-a Past 2359 at base on the last work day before a day off, it goes up to one hour for every two. § 20-L-5-a-(1)
How far can a reassignment extend your trip?
When you are reassigned from Basic flying and your original release time was 0000 to 1200, you must be scheduled to be released by 1200 the next day; if it was 1201 to 2359, by 2359 the next day. § 20-L-2 § 20-L-2-a § 20-L-2-a-(1) § 20-L-2-a-(2) If a reassignment into a day off keeps a commuter from getting back to their primary residence that day, you get a hotel on request. § 20-L-2-b
If the reassignment is made before 1400 local base time the day before your trip should end and it runs through base on or after that last day, you can ask to come off it there. § 20-L-6-a
“For each Bid Period, a Lineholder’s base pay shall be the greater of his PTC or Line Pay Value (or MPG through the April 2024 Bid Period), as compared on a dollar basis.”
“A Pilot shall receive Overtime Add Pay equal to one (1) hour for each three (3) hours actual elapsed time away from Base, prorated, starting from the point in time that is two (2) hours after their original release time.”
