Reserve: no calls from 0100 to 0659, United pilots
Short answer
Yes. Before the bid period starts you can ask not to be contacted from 0100 to 0659, and the company then delays those calls as far as it reasonably can.
What the contract says
“If a Reserve prefers to not be contacted from 0100 to 0659 he may notify the Company of this preference. This notification must be made before the applicable Bid Period begins.”
“that telephone call shall be delayed to the maximum reasonable extent, without jeopardizing callout notification or the ability to give him the assignment or to reset his FAR rest period”
Is it a guarantee that nobody will call?
No. The call is delayed only as far as it can be without losing the notice the company needs, so an urgent assignment can still reach you before 0700. § 20-K-11-b-(1)
Do I have to set it every month?
No. Once selected, the option stays on until you change it. § 20-K-11-b
Do I have to answer once I’m released to a trip?
No. A reserve released to an assignment doesn’t have to answer the phone, and during your FAR rest before that assignment the company calls only if no other reserve is available. § 20-K-4-b
